the evaluation process
As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, every primary care provider should be doing routine autism screenings for all children at their 18-month and 24-month well child checks. If your child’s primary care provider has not completed an autism screening, you should request one be completed. If the provider has completed an autism screening, and the results indicate your child is at risk for ASD, you should be referred for a formal autism evaluation, whether it is with Thrivergent Behavioral Services, LLC, or another provider. Our team conducts autism evaluations for children ages 2 to 16.
When you call for an evaluation, we will collect information about your child through our intake paperwork and questionnaires. Once we have the information we need to conduct the evaluation, we will reach out to you to schedule the evaluation appointment. At that appointment, our team will interview caregivers and conduct standardized assessments with your child to determine if they meet the DSM-5-T criteria for autism. We will provide you with a formal evaluation report that you can share with school and other professionals.
Our autism evaluations are private pay only, and the cost is $1500. We require $500 down when you make the appointment and the rest to be paid at the time of the evaluation. We accept a variety of payments, including debit, credit, and HSA. There is a grant through United Healthcare Children’s Foundation that can help pay for an evaluation. Click here to find out information about eligibility requirements and how the grant can be used.
